Bill & Marsha Bourn

Bill & Marsha Bourn

Dr. Bill Bourn earned a B.S. in Pharmacy from the University of New Mexico and completed his PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 1974.

As ULM’s Dean of Pharmacy, he guided the development and implementation of ULM’s Doctorate of Pharmacy program, overseeing the enrollment of its first students in 1998.

Dr. Bourn served as President of the Louisiana Pharmacists Association and was a longtime member of the governor’s Health Works Commission. He was honored by the LPA as their Pharmacist of the Year in 2005.

One of his greatest personal pleasures as Dean was the opportunity to hand out degrees to his three daughters, all of whom entered health-related career fields with degrees from ULM, with one even earning a degree in pharmacy.

Dr. Bourn’s wife of 53 years, Marsha, was a ULM staff member for 22 years until her retirement in 2006. “Marsha has been a great partner,” said Dr. Bourn upon his retirement in 2008. “That was a pleasant time for us, that we were all at the same institution at the same time. It made for a real family-like atmosphere.”
