John Breaux
Senator John Breaux was born in Crowley, Louisiana, and attended ULL and LSU Law School. After graduation, he practiced law and then served as an assistant to then U.S. Representative, Edwin Edwards.
In 1972, Breaux was elected to the U.S. Congress in a special election after Edwards vacated the seat to run for governor. In 1986, he was elected to the U.S. Senate. After his congressional tenure, he became a lobbyist.
