Miller Lite
The Miller Lite First Amendment Open First Generation Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship was established by the Miller Lite Amendment Open golf tournament and its executive director, Dr. Richard L. Baxter. Its goal is to provide scholarships to deserving Communication majors but it is also a tribute to honor the following:
Bob Anderson, ULM’s former Sports Information Director and a Mass Communication faculty member
Tim Brando, national sports broadcaster and ULM alumnus, who annually hosted the Tim Brando shootout for corporate sponsors of the tournament
Hope & Bob Carroll, former Mass Communication faculty members
Christine & Frank Elkins, Jr., founding sponsors of the Miller Lite First Amendment Open golf tournament which raised more than $200,000 for the communications department
Charles McDonald, former VP for Student Affairs, who served 20 years as the associate executive director of the tournament
James Parkerson, former department head of the Communications Arts department and valued supporter of the mass communication program
