Heritage of India Scholars

III. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:

To qualify for the scholarship, a recipient must meet the following:

A. Recipient(s) should be a full-time undergraduate or graduate student of Indian origin.

B. Recipient(s) must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, whether they are an incoming freshman out of high school, or a college/university student.

C. The scholarship funds must be utilized by the end of one academic year. At the end of the year, any unused funds will be utilized to support new awardees in the next fiscal school year. The scholarship is not renewable.

D. Recipient(s) must upload an essay, no longer than a page, detailing their active involvement in community service at the time of application, and stating why they are deserving of the award.

E. Recipient(s) will be asked to prove their heritage with supporting documentation (eg. student’s birth certificate, passport, or any other documentation that proves their Indian origin/citizenship including a parent’s birth certificate and/or Indian passport.

F. The recipient(s) will be expected to attend an HOI event during the award year to be presented to the membership as a recipient of the scholarship.

IV. SELECTION OF RECIPIENT:
The University of Louisiana Monroe Scholarship Office will award the scholarship annually, based upon this governing criteria.
