Chester & Nell Soignier Endowed Scholarship
The minimum award will be $2000 per semester.
Criteria for the scholarship:
A. Recipient(s) may be a traditional or non-traditional, full-time or part-time student pursuing a degree in Agribusiness
B. Recipient(s) must be a United States resident who has completed prior education (high school, home school equivalent, or college) in the United States
C. As an incoming freshman, recipient(s) must have a 2.55 minimum cumulative GPA in high school. A university student must have a 2.5 cumulative GPA in college courses
D. Scholarship is renewable if a 2.5 minimum GPA is maintained. The scholarship may be renewed up to a maximum of 8 semesters
E. Through the scholarship application process, recipient(s) must write a short essay describing how the scholarship will assist them in their higher education journey
F. Needs based. Donors intent is to assist students who have a financial need as evidenced by the Student Aid Report (SAR) received by the university after the FAFSA process is complete each year and who might otherwise be unable to attend college without this scholarship. Students who are eligible for federal educational grants which do not have to be repaid, such as Federal Pell Grants, are not eligible for this scholarship, absent very extenuating circumstances. The Admissions Office shall have latitude to make such a decision keeping in mind the original intent of this donation
Selection of the recipient(s)
The ULM Scholarship Office will provide the list of qualified applicants to the CBSS Scholarship Committee to narrow the list down to the top three finalists. The ULM Scholarship Committee will forward the finalists and their application essay to the official contact for ranking. The list of ranked finalists will be returned to the ULM Scholarship Committee for final selection and award.
