Mary Ellen and George T. Walker Scholarship Endowment

Established by friends in honor and in memory of the Walkers for their many years of dedication and devotion to education and Northeast Louisiana University, where Dr. Walker served as president from 1958 to 1976. The purpose is to provide scholarships for deserving students in the College of Arts, Education and Sciences

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet the following:

A. Recipient(s) must be a full-time student pursuing a degree in the following disciplines within The ULM College of Arts, Education and Sciences: any programs within The School of Visual and Performing Arts; and the programs of English and Communications in The School of Humanities.

B. Recipient(s) must be an incoming freshman.

C. Recipient(s) must meet university standards for acceptance in the University of Louisiana at Monroe. As an incoming freshman, recipient(s) must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school.

D. The recipient must remain in Good Standing in accordance with the ULM Student Policy Manual.

E. Scholarship is renewable if a 3.0 GPA is maintained in the major field of study. The scholarship may be renewed up to a maximum of eight semesters for an incoming freshman.

F. Recipient(s) must have demonstrated superior talent at the high-school level in art, creative writing, dance, drama, music or public speaking.
