The Sally Liew and Kevin Koh First Generation Endowed Scholarship

To qualify for the scholarship, a recipient must meet the following:

A Recipient(s) must be an undergraduate first-generation college student (i.e., neither custodial parent(s) nor legal guardian(s) have earned a college degree) with remaining financial need after deducting Estimated Family Contribution and all federal/state/institutional grant or scholarship aid from student’s Cost of Attendance and/or students, whether first-generation or not, awarded the federal Pell grant.

B. Recipient(s) must be a resident of Louisiana.

C. ULM will provide recipient(s) with structured support through active and engaged advising.

D. ULM will provide recipient(s) with meaningful campus employment of at least ten hours per week over and above the scholarship.

F. The scholarship will fund two full-time students – one pursuing an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education or Secondary Education with a preference given to those who have an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in Special Education (Early Intervention) and one pursuing and undergraduate degree in Finance with a preference given to those who have an interest in pursuing a career in the banking industry.

G. The scholarship award(s) will cover a four-academic-year period for the two students in good standing (continuous, eight semesters) and will be non-renewable after that period.

H. Scholarship may be renewed if a 3.0 minimum GPA is maintained. If a recipient falls below the 3.0 minimum, it will be at the donor’s discretion if the scholarship distribution may continue.

The ULM Scholarship Office along with TRiO will select scholarship recipient(s).
