Sparks Family Trust Scholarship

Established by the Sparks family to provide scholarships to deserving students.

1. Recipient(s) may be a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student pursuing, when possible a degree or minor in French. If there is not a qualified candidate pursuing a degree or minor in French, the faculty in the Department of Foreign Languages may award the scholarship to a student concentrating in other areas of study in the Department.
2. First year undergraduate recipient(s) must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in high school and a minimum of two years of high school French or other appropriate language. University undergraduate or graduate recipient(s) must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA in college courses and a minimum of twelve hours in French or other appropriate language with a minimum 3.0 GPA in language courses.
3. All candidates must supply two letters of recommendation from foreign language teachers/professors in those classes they have studied.
4. Recipient(s) must demonstrate an interest in the culture of the speakers of the target language.
5. Scholarship may be used to support study abroad for students of French who may not be majors.
