Martha Birden Memorial Annual Scholarship

III. CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:

To qualify for the scholarship, a student must meet the following:

A. The recipient must be a full-time student pursuing their first undergraduate degree.

B. Recipient must be a first-time freshman and first-generation college student.

C.Recipient must meet university standards for acceptance in the University of Louisiana Monroe. A university student must have a 2.5 cumulative High School GPA.

D.Scholarship is not renewable.

E. Recipient must have graduated from one of the following High Schools: BLOCK HIGH SCHOOL, SICILY ISLAND HIGH SCHOOL, FERRIDAY HIGH SCHOOL, VIDALIA HIGH SCHOOL, GENERAL TRASS HIGH SCHOOL, FRANKLIN PARISH HIGH SCHOOL, JONESBORO-HODGE HIGH SCHOOL, LINCOLN PREPARATORY SCHOOL, SIMSBORO HIGH SCHOOL, MADISON HIGH SCHOOL, BASTROP HIGH SCHOOL, BOOKER T. WASHINGTONNEW ORLEANS, FREDERICK A. DOUGLASSNEW ORLEANS, JOHN F. KENNEDYNEW ORLEANS, CARROLL HIGH SCHOOL, RICHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL, WOSSMAN HIGH SCHOOL, DELHI HIGH SCHOOL, RAYVILLE HIGH SCHOOL, TENSAS HIGH SCHOOL, ARCADIA HIGH SCHOOL, GIBSLAND COLEMAN HIGH SCHOOL, RINGGOLD HIGH SCHOOL, BOSSIER HIGH SCHOOL, PLAIN DEALING HIGH SCHOOL, BOOKER T WASHINGTON HS – SHREVEPORT, SOUTHWOOD HIGH SCHOOL, WOODLAWN LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, GREEN OAKS PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY, HUNTINGTON HIGH SCHOOL, HAYNESVILLE JR SR HIGH SCHOOL, HOMER HIGH SCHOOL, STANLEY HIGH SCHOOL, or MINDEN HIGH SCHOOL.

The University of Louisiana Monroe Scholarship Committee will send Erick Burton, grandson of Martha D. Birden, eligible recipient list. Erick will send recommended recipient(s) name(s) to the University of Louisiana Monroe Scholarship Committee for final selection(s) and award.
