Tianyu Wang Endowed Scholarship

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
To qualify for the scholarship, a recipient must meet the following:

A Recipient(s) must be a full-time student pursuing a degree in Communication or be a member of student publications who has received an award at a state, regional, or national photojournalism competition.

B. Recipient(s) must be a senior in their last 2 semesters of their coursework with a 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA in college courses.

C. Scholarship is not renewable.

D. Supplemental question: applicants must submit an original essay to be read and ranked by the Communications Department Scholarship Committee (maximum of two pages, double-spaced 12-point font, or approximately 500 words) responding to one of the following prompts:
i. Describe a pivotal moment in your studies or professional experiences that solidified your commitment to storytelling, media, or communication. How has that influenced your
career aspirations?

ii. Media ethics and integrity are critical in today’s world. How would you approach the challenges of maintaining authenticity and accuracy in your work?

iii. In what ways can communication, journalism, or media be used to create positive change in society, and how do you see yourself contributing to this mission?

iv. Imagine you have unlimited resources to create a media project. How would this project reflect your personal values and creative vision, and what impact do you hope your project will achieve?

SELECTION OF RECIPIENT:
The University of Louisiana Monroe Scholarship Office will send approved recipient list to the Communications Scholarship Committee who will provide recommendations to the Scholarship Office.
